Q: I have a 92 Acura Legend and I was wondering what is the best oil to use?
My 1992 Acura legend is my baby with 176,000 miles and I'm really trying to see what I can get out of it for performance. I'm working on putting in a new air intake and a new exhaust system but before that, I'm ready for an oil change...
My friend told me to switch over to synthetic oil to help clean out the engine and get it running better. He told me to change the oil with synthetic for like 3 oil changes then continue with a synthetic blend. I'm willing to pay the money for it but should I switch over to full synthetic? If not, what should I use for performance?
Thanks for your help! It's really appreciated!
Well thanks for your answers...
Yes it is a 92 and yes it does have 176k miles on it but its an engine that will last another 100k to 150k if taken care of well. The body is still in good condition so why not fix it up? I'm not asking for a racing beast or anything, just something where I can punch it and it has a really good kick to it...
ALSO oil does make a huge difference in a car's performance...
I'll stick with 5w-30 mobile 1
A: stick with 5/30
any brand will be fine
synthetic is a waste of money
oh that intake and exhaust is also a big waste of money too
is a 92 with 170k
Q: Does anyone know when Acura stopped making Legends? What was the last Legend made and how I can find pictures.
I used to own a 1993 Acura Legend, I still miss that car! Wish I could find another anyway does anyone know when Acura stopped making them and what car was supposed to replace it?
I hope not the RL or whatever that thing was called I haven't heard good things about it.
A: If you want another one I would try e bay, but be careful. Not everyone on e bay is honest. To find a picture i would go to dogpile.com and click on images, then type in acura legend.
Q: How do I fix the door lock on an Acura Legend?
My friend has a rather old Acura Legend. Recently he unlocks the door with the key (or by the switch or the remote) and it unlocks for a second, then it locks right back. In order to open the door, he needs to time it perfectly... meaning unlock the door and open it really fast before the door locks back. Sometimes the driver side lock doesn't unlock at all! How do you fix this without going to a mechanic?
A: If you don't want to take it to a mechanic just pull the fuse out for the power door locks, look in your owners manual to see where it's located.
Q: Where and How do you replace Temp Switch & Coolant Temp Sensor on 1992 Acura Legend?
I was just wondering if anyone could specifically tell me where to find the Temperature Switch and Coolant Temp Sensor on a 1992 Acura Legend? Also, could you please provide step by step instructions on replacing one or both of the items? How difficult is it?
A: Pretty easy- they are both near/on the upper radiator hose/thermostat housing. First, go buy the new ones, so you'll know what you're looking for. Next, drain your coolant-Into a bucket/other container(this is toxic stuff!-DISPOSE OF PROPERLY, or re-use). Then, simply use a wrench or socket to unscrew the old ones(after unplugging the wires, of course !), put a little(2 or 3 wraps) teflon tape around the threads of the new ones, *Opposite direction* of screwing them in!, and screw them in, hook them up, fill your radiator, start your car, let it warm up, check for leaks, and you're ready to go!
Q: How to unlock 95 Acura Legend stereo with code?
I have the 5 digit unlock code for my acura legend but im not exactly sure how to enter it in right. I've been trying to enter it using the keypad on the radio but that doesn't work. Anyone that knows the right way to enter it PLEASE let me know. Thanks
A: turn on the radio... then press the code in!
and thats it!
unless you have the wrong code!
Q: What do you think about the Acura legend LS?
How do you rate the Acura legend ls? To the people out there with this car what do u think about it?
A: I have one of my own it is a 4 door however but its a 92 and still quick especially for its age if your looking for a car to do allot of modifications to it may not be the best car though because not to many things are made for it now and days. Most things have to be custom.
Q: 92 Acura Legend Manual grinds sometimes in 2nd gear only?
I have a 92 Acura Legend standard tranny. Sometimes when I release the clutch in 2nd in grinds horribly. Sometimes it works fine and sometimes it works for a few seconds, then grinds again. All other gears work perfectly. What could be wrong?
A: It may not be engaging completely into 2nd. If there's linkage on the side of the trans, adjust it. If it's a 'top loader', check the engagement slots & look for wear ( you'll see plastic ) under yer shifter. =^ )
Q: Did i get a good deal on my Acura Legend?
hey i bought a 1991 Acura Legend LS about a month ago and it has 144000 miles and a automatic transmission. 6cd and tape and bose speakers all around. it has a sun roof and power windows. its gray and blue interior. the problems is that
one of the powerwindows doesnt work, the ABS light has been on and it has a small dent in the fender.
i paid the one owener lady $2300
did i get a good deal?
A: Yes you did a good deal.
Only the 6 CD/tape and the Bose speakers are worth it. Sun roof and power windows, COOL! not bad for 1991 car.
As for the other stuff; well you can't expect a brand new body on a 16 years old car. If you get an used car it's normal to expect some minor imperfections. So just enjoy your new car and stop thinking about little things.
Q: Is there a way to find the code to unlock the radio in my 93 Acura Legend without going to the dealer?
1993 acura legend. Radio locked when I changed the fuses.
A: I just had this problem with my 97 Acura 2.2 CL when I changed the battery. You need the radio serial number before the dealer can look up the code. You have to have the radio removed because the serial number, of course, is in the back of the unit (1998 models have the serial number in the glove box). You can either go to the dealer or go to a local car alarm/radio installation shop and ask them to pull the radio for you. I paid $4.00 at the following site and removed my own radio. The site is: http://www.carstereoremoval.com. They give a step-by-step on removing your radio.
Hope this helps.
Q: 1987 acura legend has oil in the coolant and keeps over heating.?

A: best case:blown head gasket worst case:cracked head.
Q: Why do you think Acura stopped making the Legend model?
Acura has come out with the RL and TL models after they stopped making the Legend in 1994. I own a '93 Acura Legend that has been kept in extremely great condition. It has Acura stock chrome alloys, heated rear window and side mirrors, power steering, automatic transmission with six gears, power seats, leather interior, automatic windows, factory tinted windows, built-in Bose stereo system with optional six disc CD changer.
A: Honda never stopped making the legend, in other parts of the world there is still a Honda Legend. We just know it as the Acura RL. And the Acura Integra is not the RSX, the Honda Integra is the Acura RSX here in the states. Acura does not exist in other parts of the world, only in the US. It wont be till 07' that Acura will make its debut in Japan.
Honda's dont have problems with blowing headgaskets. DSMs are the ones with headgasket problems. They blow on average of 15k miles.

Q: What are symptoms of a broken right front axle on a 1993 Acura Legend?
I have been told by my mechanic that the right front axle on my 1993 Acura Legend is broken. What are the symptoms of a broken axle? I feel slight vibrations at around 70mph and its only sometimes. What does a broken axle look like? (does a broken axle have any obvious indications that I can look at it to confirm its bad) do the rubber boots dry rot and split or is there normally a broken metal component?
Thanks in advance
A: If the axle were "broken" you wouldn't be driving the car. The most likely cause is a CV(constant velocity) joint. They are like universal joints, but are covered with a flexible rubber boot to keep them protected. When the rubber boots get cracked the grease in the CV joint become contaminated and soon you cease to go down the road. That event is usually preceeded by a period of time where the CV joint is complaining to you by making a snapping or clicking sound. That is the bearings going bad in the CV joint.
The CV joints are replacable, as are the entire axles. In front wheel drive applications like yours, the axles are called "half shafts". Call any reputable parts house for pricing on half shafts and CV joints. It is a job for a mechanic, not a weekend at home job.
