Q: Acura MDX...?
I have been thinking of buying an Acura MDX and wanted to get the opinions of people who own them and are happy, or people who own them and regret it. I'm trying to decide between the MDX and a VM Touareg. Your thoughts?
A: I bought a Touareg and lost $20,000.00 when I had to dump it before the warranty ran out. It spent months in the shop one repair after another. Tires will only last 10,000 miles and gas mileage is about 14 mpg. Volkswagen was impossible to deal with, DO NOT DO IT! I would highly recommend the MDX if you have a dealer in your area for repairs. My replacement for the Touareg was a Nissan Pathfinder with a V6. It's not as fancy as the Touareg but It has never failed me. Good Luck.
Q: Are the transmissions on a 01 acura mdx attached to the engine?
I heard that the transmissions on an 01 acura mdx are permanently attached to the engine, so if the tranmsissions would need to replaced, i would have to remove both the engine and the motor to relace the transmision. Is that true, or is there another way to remove the transmission without removing the engine also with it?
A: They are not permently attached but by bolts yes they are. Depending on the type of repair needed, you might have to pull the whole motor out to work on the tranny. But that is nothing different, all cars are like that.
Q: what is the difference between a regular 2004 Acura MDX and a Touring MDX?
I am looking at a 2004 Acura MDX and do not know if its a bae or a Touring. Other than an upgraded Bose stereo, what is the difference between the two and what additional options does the Touring have?
A: extra stuff
Q: Can someone give me some info on the Acura MDx and RDx?
Right now I have a Honda CR-V and it eats gas up(hate that)..I do travel alot and would like a decent car to travel in, would the Acura MDx or RDx be a good car?
A: Does it needs to be a SUV? Consider other types of vehicles too. If you do not need the 4x4 capabilities or not need to drive off road. There is no reason to have some like that. You might enjoy better a much nimble vehicle with a better fuel efficiency.
If your major concern is fuel efficiency. By personal experience, I drive a full size sedan, is comfy, handles great and I get at worst 27 MPG at 77 MPH as best 32 MPG so is not bad to fill the tank with gas 16 GL and drive 450 miles before I have to fill up. Plus it has tons of room. I drove it to Copper Mountain in Colorado with 2 sets of Skis, all the gear, suitcases and all fit inside the car. The funny thing, I saw 2 SUVs on the ditch but no other cars!
Not only that, to insure is cheaper and I paid brand new about $21,000 back on 03. 84,000 miles later still runs strong.
If that is not what you are looking for, is hard to find a SUV here in the USA that will sip gas. If there is one, it will be gutless as heck.
Good luck...! :-)
Q: What does it mean "Maintenance Required" light on an Acura MDX?
My 2003 Acura MDX's "MAINT RQ'D" light came on while I was driving. Now, its a steady light. Its not the "check engine" light but it is now lit and I am worried it might just stop in the middle of the road.
A: generally that means it is time for an oil change and if you had your oil changed recently then they forgot to reset it. good luck and Merry Christmas
Q: Does any one has any good or bad experience with 2001 MDX ACURA?
I want to buy 2001 Acura MDX, is anyone has any bad experience with this car. what do I need to look for when I go to check it out?
A: Both the MDX and its sister the Pilot are excellent cars. I repair cars for a living and I see few major problems with these vehicles. I would buy either one of these cars.
Q: how do you remove the tranmission out of a 2001 acura mdx?
i am removing a tranny out of an 01 acura mdx for the first time. I am trying to figure out where is the bracket to remove the tranny. If possible i would love to see a diagram ect.
A: un bolt the motor mounts and lower crossmember and remove halfshafts then lower it out from under the car with the engine attached.
Q: Is there a big difference between the 2003, 2004 and 2006 models of the Acura MDX?
I'm thinking about buying an Acura MDX and I'm wondering if I should try for a used one to save a little cash. I have no idea what's changed in the car over the past few years so any info would be appreciated.
A: Acura usually does a new redesign every 4 to 5 years. In the time between, very minor changes are made.
Q: Can an all wheel drive vehicle (Acura MDX) be driven on a beach?
I go to Cape Cod and cars are allowed on certain beaches there. I know four wheel drives like a Jeep and Explorer have no problem but will the Acura MDX cut it too?
A: Is it capable? Yes, without a problem. I've driven several Subarus and other symmetrical AWD vehicles on the beach without a problem. I've seen MDXs there as well. Check with the rules and regulations if they are allowed though.
Q: I decided to purchase a 04 Acura MDX over an 03 ML 350 was it a good decision?
I test drove both cars, and liked them both, but I was thinking more of long term, and which would give a better trade in about 3 years. Since the ML body style changed drastically I didn't feel an 03 would be worth anything in about 3 years. It had 60K miles, and the MDX 52K.
A: the Acura is better.
and you don't have to deal with MB poor customer service people
Q: Is it possible to get an Acura MDX at the invoice price?
My last car was a Honda Accord, which I was able to get at invoice price after much negotiating.
I know that an Acura would fall into a different brand category (it would be a step up from a Honda or a Toyota, etc). Will negotiating with an Acura dealer get me anywhere? I really want to get it at invoice!
A: For new cars, the best way to get the best price is to offer a commitment to purchase. You don't need anything fancy or try any stupid tactics. If its the car you want, and you are ready to buy, then say "I will buy it now if you sell it at invoice" if they say no and you feel you should only pay invoice, then leave and go to the next dealership.
The other thing you can do is email the sales department and tell them you will come in and buy now if they sell it at invoice.
Q: What should be the best price i should pay for a Acura MDX?
Hi.
Plan to buy a 2007 MDX Tech package model SUV. I did some research in internet, but i am not very sure what is the best MSRP price for this vehicle in the market. Any Help on this please.

Hi. I live in NJ.
A: It really depends on where you live.
Say you live in Hawaii where there is one Acura dealership, they can be going OVER MSRP.
But say you live in Southern California where there are hundreds of Acura dealerships they go for about $500 over invoice.
Q: Does the Acura MDX 2007 feel better after you own it for more than a month?
I was thinking of buying an Acura MDX 2007, but when I sat in it, it was uncomfortable. My friend's car, which is the same model, feels very comfortable. Would the comfort level change after a while?
A: I suggest you have your friend drive it for a month or 2, to make it a nice fit for you...love your question
Q: Help with the Acura MDX Problem that Navigation system doesn't work when i was changing dissconect battery?
I was just disconected the batery for a repair now my radio, navigation and dvd player need a code help.. The car did not come with a manual and there is no stick or card it is the dvd and navagation system also.
A: Did you buy your MDX used? It should have came with a card that had both the radio and NAVI codes. You will have to call your local Acura or Honda dealer, give them your VIN and they will be able to tell you them. Be sure to write them down, then sign up for My Acura http://owners.acura.com/ and you can enter the codes in there, so they will never be lost.
Q: How do you connect an iPod to a 2008 Acura MDX?
We have the tech/entertainment package, and I read that the aux input is "behind" the center console for that package combination. I looked in the back seat (which seems really inconvenient) and saw red/white/yellow inputs, but I think that is for the DVD player (like for playing video games). I don't see anything inside the center console except the power outlet and I don't see an AUX input anywhere near the radio/nav controls. Thanks!
A: Unfortunately, the "DVD" player hookup (Yellow/Red/White) is the only "easy" way to wire your ipod into the MDX audio system. Because you bought the tech/entertainment, they replaced the "AUX" input with the 3 wire solution. They also retired the Acura based ipod link because people complained so much about it. Your only other options are: get an FM Modulator ( I've had good luck with DLO's solution) OR a system that replaces the XM radio connection. I've not tried the latter, but am researching that myself. Good luck!
