Q: can I replace the brake light bulb on my audi a3 or do I need to take it to audi to do?
A brake light has gone on my audi a3 and I thought yep I'll just replace it but it's all panneled in. I have changed bulbs on Vw's with not hassle, just unclip the small panel and replace it but on the audi a3 it's all boxed in. How do I replace them?

A: To change the bulb you will need to remove the rear light cluster. Inside the boot you will see a round coloured (same as interior trim) Remove this and you will see a bolt that needs to be removed and the whole light fitting will be free to remove and then you can access the rear of the light like you could on the other cars. Be careful not to let the light drop when you undo the bolt and also not to Over tighten it when re fitting.

Q: Fitting remote locking to an 1998 audi a3 with central locking?
I am looking to get a remote locking kit for my 1998 audi a3. It already has central locking so I am not worried about fitting motors/solenoids. I am wondering how do I put the wires through the car and where is the best place to put the control box?

A: The easiest place to locate the control box is in the driver's door, as it already contains the permanent live & switched feeds to & from the door lock. HOWEVER, according to my info, all A3 models have remote locking from their introduction in 1996 - at that age, you should have the remote key with retractable blade.

Q: When i try to adjust the main dipped lights on my Audi A3 they do not seem to move?
Could there be a problem with the adjustment switch inside, which is located beside the dimmer switch for the dash lights?

A: Good news... Bad news. The good news is that nothing is wrong with your A3. The bad news is that you can't adjust your headlights. Your A3, along with most other newer Audi models, has "headlight range control." When your headlights come on, do they move down and back up? Audi uses a sensor near the back of the car, one at the front of the car, and one in each headlight to level the headlights. If you have more weight in the back your headlights would shine up in the eyes of oncoming motorists. But, the Headlight Range Control Module is given signals from these sensors and knows that the rear of the car is sitting lower than the front. It sends a signal to the headlight adjustment motor and moves the headlights down to compensate. Why can't you adjust them? Every time you move the adjustment screw, and in turn the headlight, the sensor in the headlight sends its position to the Headlight Range Control Module. The Module then adjusts the motor to try to level the headlights. Every time you move it, the car moves it back. You need someone with an Audi scan tool to disable the Headlight Range Control Module while the headlights are adjusted. It may be possible with the "VAG-COM" software. I am not sure, as I only use Audi scan tools. The address word is: 55-Headlight Range Control. If you don't have access to VAG-COM you will have to take it to an Audi dealer to have them adjusted. Sorry :<(

Q: can you put a face lift front bumper on a pre face lift audi a3?
i have 1 54 plate a3 pre face lift, and want to put a face lift s3 front bumper on it. is this possible? does it go straight on?

A: it can be done. I read on a audi forum of someone who did that. Type it in yahoo search. Think the site was audi-sport.net > Forums and search that. I was looking at changing my 53 plate bumper-front to the modern s-line front/grille

Q: How do I get the windsceen wipers on an Audi A3 to stop in the service position ?
In the rest position you cannot change the windscreen wipers

A: Start the car or even switch on ignition and then switch off again, and within 3 seconds, operate the wiper switch upwards, the wiper arms will move to middle of windscreen (service position) so you could work on it. Dead easy!Cheers!

Q: Audi A3 vs. Volkswagen GTI vs. Scion Tc, What would you buy?
I am a college student and need a basic commuter with a decent amount of speed for the weekend. I personally like the GTI but don't like what I have heard about reliability. The scion is my second choice as a very good commuter, but underpowered. The A3 is my final as it is a bit too expensive. What would you purchace?

A: Out of that list, the Scion tC is the most reliable one out of the list but it only has average reliability. The GTI and the A3 have below average reliability. The Scion tC is not sporty but has decent acceleration. GTI and the A3 have very quick acceleration and handling.

Q: Will a set of golf clubs fit in the boot of an Audi A3?
Looking at buying a 2002 Audi S3. Assuming a full set of clubs including driver in a stand bag. Or do I need to fold down the seats?

A: Yes they will if you take your driver and your woods out, you will get two sets in if you do that. As long as they are not big tour bags.

Q: What do you think of the Alfa Romeo Brera (or is an Audi A3 or BMW 1 series a better buy)?
I'm torn I really am. A small, fun car is what I need - up to £25000 - max. After watching top gear, i'm verging towards the Alfa but all opinions and advice are greatly appreciated?

A: The Alfa is a FAR better car than the ugly BMW or the Golf-in-a-posh-suit Audi. Breras are rare cars and as a result are holding their values well, unlike the more common BMW or Audi. Modern Alfas do not break down all the time or rust, indeed one friend of mine changed his awful dog of an A3 for an Alfa 147 and it hasn't given him a moment's bother in 120k miles, and my 156 has been faultless as well. I'd recommend a modern Alfa to anyone, don't listen to the bar-room experts, talk to happy Alfa owners instead!

Q: My audi a3 ABS light is on and the dash brake light too even though the brakes have been replaced?
When the brakes were being replace I saw like a spolit in the cable that I think runs down to the caliper. Which was probably something to do with why the abs and dash brake light are still on. I called gsfmotors and they say they only sell the abs sensors for a3's. I am wondering where I can get this cable from? When I press my brakes they dont feel right at all. The sharpness of the stop is gone. Any suggestions? Spelling God I'd rather fix the problem than get use to it. A garage replaced the brakes. Michael H - Yep I saw the garage fitting the brakes. I did manage to see a chop/cut/split in the wire that leads to the abs sensor or brake caliper. I can honeslty say the brakes were correctly fitted as I have used these people for cars I've had in the past.

A: It is more than likely a fault with the ABS sensor, situated on the break caliper.
