Q: What is the Honda equivalent of the LIFAN 150cc engine found in the LF150T-6 scooter?
Does anyone know what Honda engine is replicated by the engine in the Lifan LF150T-6 scooter. I know that it is a clone of a Honda 150cc 4 stroke engine and I need to buy parts like filter and spark plugs etc... If anyone knows what engine this is a clone of it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

A: I believe you are wanting the Honda design designation that is the mainstay on Chinese and other small engine scooters. The GY6 is the engine nomenclature I think you are looking for. The 50cc engine also is known as a QMB139. These are both copies of the venerable engines engineered in the '60s by Honda. In your case, look for any thing that fits the GY6 and you will get what is made for your motor!

Q: 1991 Honda idle RPMs jumps from 1500 to 2000 and back in 1 second intervals on cold start?
My 1991 Honda Accord - When starting cold, the RPMs will jump from 1500 to 2000 back to 1500, and so on back and forth and 1 second intervals until the engine is warmed up and then idles at a constant RPM. What would cause this?

A: Your idle speed control motor is malfunctioning at lower temps. Not an easy nor a cheap fix. It has to be replaced.

Q: What information can you get from a honda engine serial number?
I want to buy a honda prelude but it has had an engine swap. Is there any way of knowing the year of an engine from the serial number?

A: yes, the year the engine was made, the month and the day and even the shift it was made on should be stamped on the block someplace.

Q: Where to obtain a honda stereo compatibility list?
I want to see what other Honda factory stereos will work in my 98 accord. Specifically will a 04 honda element stereo work in my 98 accord. Ok, my bad, more specifically, will it hook into the factory wiring harness? I'd really like a website or list that will tell the compatibility. I know of din and double-din.

A: Any Radio can fit in your Accord since it has a double DIN

Q: How do you remove a alternator from a honda CBX 750 motorbike?
Hi, I suspect alternator failure on my Honda CBX 750. Ive tried to remove it but no joy so far. I've read it's chain driven, does that mean the engine needs to be stripped to remove the alternator? The battery is not charging and there is no voltage on the primary alternator wires. Thanks for your help.

A: free download of manuals & parts list... exploded diagrams.. http://hondatech.info/

Q: Why do Honda drivers with woofers act like they are driving a Ferrari?
I always notice lots of guys in these tore up Honda's with those annoying Woofer's *I think that's what they are called* driving around like they are in a Ferrari? Not only are their driving habits annoying, but the sound of their car should be illegal. Sounds sooooo Ghetto! I just don't see anything cool about it. I really don't get it, what is the point of having these cars, is it cause they can't afford a true sports car, so they just fantazise and pretend with those little cars?

A: they bought the car it belongs to them as long as its not illegal they can do whatever they like to the car. Some lights are illegal and some adapted locomotive horns that I have seen are very much illegal but the sound systems, wheels, body kits, etc etc are just fine everyone has a right to an opinion and everyone has the same right to do whatever they like to their own property regardless of what others may think

Q: Why do Honda steering wheels get smooshy after a few years?
Why do Honda steering wheels get very soft and smooshy after a few years' use? They seem to become very soft and the material actually starts to move back and forth, especially on the places where it is most used. Is there a way to fix this? I looked at a replacement steering wheel for my 91 Accord and it's $350 -- which I thought was a bit outrageous.

A: The factory steeling wheel degrades because of it's chemical compound. UV rays and the natural oils on your skin cause it to break down over time. The "movement" you're describing is caused by the rubber compound expanding and rotating around the metal core of the steering wheel. The year of your vehicle makes it pretty simple to swap in an aftermarket steering wheel. It's more difficult on newer vehicles with "features" built into the wheel. You can find a compatible wheel on literally hundreds of sites on the internet, Ebay is also a great choice. You can obtain a fairly decent looking wheel for around $70 - $100 shipped. Removal and installation is another story of course. If you're not mechanically inclided I recommend you find a friend or local shop to do the swap for you. It's a simple process of removing a primary bolt and then using a puller to get the wheel of it's hub. In some cases the puller is not necessary, the wheel will come off with little hesitation. Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Q: How do you change the oil on a Honda Elite 80, and what kind of oil should I use?
I have a 1986 Honda Elite 80, and the red light has come on again. I know where to empty the oil, but I don't know: 1) What type of oil should i use? (weather is always 40 to 75 degrees where I live) 2) Do i just empty the oil and refill, or is there something else that needs to be done, like cleaning a filter? 3) How do i get the switch to go back to green once i change the oil. The last time I changed the oil, it stayed on red. Thanks.

A: Hi. Honda GN4 oil in 10w30 weight should be fine. 10w40 would be ok too. Put the scooter on the center stand, remove the drain plug, allow to drain (use a drain pan), replace plug, fill with oil. I don't know what the correct amount of oil is, so pour in 1/2 quart and check level. Set the dipstick on the threads- do not screw in to check. Add a small amount at a time until oil is on the dipstick. For the change light, there should be a slot just under the speedometer big enough for the ignition key to fit. Insert the key and watch the color change from red to green. Hope this helps.

Q: How do I fix pinholes in my old honda 50 gas tank?
I have a 72 Honda 50 and it has a section that has holes in the gas tank. Is there some kind of epoxy, compound, solder or something else that I can put on tank so that it will hold gas?

A: repair large pinholes with NuMetal epoxy putty then you must seal the inside of the tank permanently with Gold Standard Tank Sealer. Apply left over Sealer to the repaired exterior areas. Choose a KBS Coatings kit for your gallon size tank and follow the directions. The Sealer will withstand today's fuels and can withstand vibration of the tank. Unlike Kreem, this Sealer interlocks with the metal tank. The insideof the tank will look like new again with a silver metallic coating.

Q: Will my 1998 Honda Civic be able to survive a trip from San Diego to Chicago?
I'm planning a road trip from San Diego to Chicago with my 1998 Honda. It has about 88,000 miles and still runs great, but I'm not sure it will make it that far without having complications. Any suggestions, answers, advise? Has anyone attempted this with an older car?

A: I agree with all the above answers. I will add my two cents. If you don't know how to figure gas millage learn, this way you will always know how long you can drive before stopping for gas. Put one gallon of fuel in the trunk, put a gallon or 2 of coolant in the trunk, put basic hand tools, jumper cables, duct tape and maps in the trunk. Put a couple of quarts of oil in the trunk. Pull a mile or two off the highway for the best gas prices. You can get a basic AAA card for about 60 bucks, if you break down you will be glad you have it. I used to make the trip with a CB radio. Good for finding "bear traps" and conditions ahead. If you hit snow don't continue, you are a rookie, its dangerous. Wish I could join you. Good luck.

Q: How come my honda cbr wont start after replacing my radiator?
I had to change out my radiator in my honda cbr 600 f4i and when i replaced it now the headlights wont turn on, but everything on the display stays lit up and wont shut off like normal. Then when I go to turn it on it wont start up either you can just hear it wanting to.

A: Re-check your electrical. You may have crossed a couple of wires.
