Q: How does a 4dr Renault Megane compare to a Hyundai Elantra 4 dr hatchback in terms of space?
Or, if you don't know the Elantra, could a family of four travel comfortably with luggage in the Megane? How much luggage? We've been offered use of a Megane on our upcoming visit to Ireland and are wondering can we use it for touring.
A: the megane is slightly smaller in usable space but has much nicer seats, make sure the wipers will work before driving off.
you will be suprised how little fuel you will use during trip.
Q: How much would it cost to replace these parts on a Hyundai Elantra?
I can get a 2000 Elantra with 132,000 miles on it for free, but it would need both front axels replaced and an alternator belt. how much would that cost and would it be worth it?
A: 400 to 500 total..worth it? you tell me...i would not buy a brand new hyundai
Q: How do I change the thermostat on a 2001 Hyundai Elantra?
I found a few web sites with generic instructions that can apply to all vehicles, but I would feel more comfortable with a diagram or a web site that has pictures of this Elantra model. Anyone know any free resources?
A: take the old one out and put a new one in, all you need to do is locate the thermostat housing usually at the end of one of the radiator hoses on my car it is literally at the end of the radiator return hose (top hose) take the housing off pull the old one out clean the old gasket off the housing and engine replace gasket and place new thermo in its seat replace housing over it and bolt it back down. this is really one of the easiest things to do next to changing the oil. if you need a picture for about 20 bucks at your local autozone you can get a chilton manual for it that has every diagram of the car there is.
Q: How much does it cost to replace the timing belt on a Hyundai Elantra (GT)?
I am looking at used cars and found one with about 55k miles on it. The timing belt (and water pump) is typically changed at 60k mi. Just curious how expensive this is on a Hyundai from anyone who has paid for it.
A: o own a repair shop,,and usually this job runs around 200 bucks,,parts and labor included,,there are probably some shop,s that charge more,,and maybe some less,,but this is a good price for that job,,it doesn't take all that long to do,,i hope this help,s.
Q: My cd player in my 2001 Hyundai Elantra GT has not been working, does anyone know what is wrong?
I have a 2001 hyundai elantra GT and my cd player has not been working lately. The radio works just fine, but when I put a CD in the player it will start to spin but then it will spit the cd out and give a message that says ERROR 6. Does anyone know how I can fix this or what could be wrong?
to the one person that said stop putting dirty cd's in my cd player. there's no need to be a smart ass.. I'm not that stupid to put a dirty cd in my cd player. I'm looking for a real answer, not one that is a waste of space on here.
A: There could be a number of things...
1) Moisture build up on the laser eye
2) Excessive dirt / dust build up on the laser eye
3) Maybe something lodged inside the CD slot
4) CD not spinning properly (damaged gear)
Try getting a CD player cleaning kit to clean the laser eye first. If this does not solve your problem, you may need to remove it from the vehicle and get it serviced (or simply replace it)
Q: What is wrong when a Hyundai Elantra has these (multiple problems) all at once?
Hyundai Elantra, '98, it's driving along and everything is normal...then all of a sudden, the power steering starts to go out...the brakes and battery lights come on... then the heater starts blowing only cold air... and then it starts to indicate overheat really fast... then the lights start to go dim. What is wrong with this POS?
bottom line, does it sound expensive
A: sounds like the belt has come off, the reason everything happened at once is that the belt runs: the alternator (battery, brake lights, dim lights), the water pump (overheating, no heat), power steering pump (no power steering). Should not cost more than $100 parts and labor.
Q: Is the engine cover on an 08 Hyundai Elantra important?
I'm about to purchase an 08 Elantra that doesn't have the engine cover, but first would like to know if it's important.
A: I bought my 08 Elantra from a dealership brand new and it never had an engine cover. I believe the engine cover was originally on the 07 models and they removed them for cost reasons for the 08 model year. It doesn't really do anything. It actually makes it more of a pain to change your oil.
Q: How do I install trailer wiring on my Hyundai Elantra 2006 (4-dr hatchback)?
I've bought a "universal" trailer light kit (two magnetic lamps and the associated wiring), but it comes with almost no directions. The Elantra has separate brake and direction lights. On each side of the rear in the trunk is a small black plastic grille which, when removed, reveals a black cable plugging into the light array. The plug is a white plastic 4-terminal array (the terminals aren't round, in case you're thinking "slam dunk - it's a trailer wiring plug"). In the cable on the left hand side there are four wires: black, white, yellow, and yellow w/ a red line. In the cable on the right hand side are four wires: black, white, brown, blue.
Any inspired suggestions as to where I should go from here?
A: The wiring harness you need has plugs so you can disconnect the existing plugs behind tail light and connect inbetween those; the trailer light connector. do not start cutting wires or splicing into system..bad idea. U-Haul trailer places will have what you need including installation if you wish..
good luck..
Q: Whats up with my dashboard lights in my 00 Hyundai Elantra?
I have a 2000 Hyundai Elantra. My dash lights will not work. All of the dummy lights are coming on as usual. The front left marker light is out as well as the left rear marker light. I believe the markers are just coincidental to the dash lights. I checked the fuses and none are bad and the dimmer switch is on. What do i do next? could it be just the bulbs
A: I agree that the marker lights being out is coincidence to the dash lights. 194 bulbs for the marker lights.
It could be just the bulbs, but they don't usually all go out at the exact same time. The dimmer switch (aka rheostat) could be bad. Do the lights on the radio work? Try to adjust them using the dimmer switch. If they don't get brighter or dimmer, or if they don't come on at all, I'd start with the switch. $40.00 from your local dealer.

Q: 98 hyundai elantra wont start no headlights parking lights work?
battery is good and fully charged
tried moving gear shift no results
A: If it is an Auto trans - work the shifter in and out of Park. If it is not setting correctly you cannot start it. Uncertain if it affects the lights.
Possible the Park location switch is not engaged.
