Q: How to get in behind an ashtray in Hyundai Santa Fe?
Hi I was driving to the grocery store and I went to grab my Credit card and it went in behind were the ashtray goes. Now you probably thinking why the fuck would I have my ashtray out well it the slot for the GPS which takes up about half the space. Thanks if you could help

A: to get in behind an ashtray, you would probably have to get shrunk by that shrink-ray from honey, i shrunk the kids. those spaces arent big enough for a normal human being. ;-) seriously though...you probably need to dismantle the console. to do that, there will be screws by the gas pedal and on the passenger side of the console. once you get a side panel off, you can reach in and get it. thats common practice with most cars. but if the ash tray doesnt have an open space behind it through the console, you are SOL.

Q: How Do I wire spot lamps on my Hyundai Santa Fe?
Does anyone know how to wire spot lamps so that they come on with the high beam and go off with low beam. I know they would work if I simply connected to my high beam feed wire but I also know that this is not the right way to do it as I should fit a fuse and relay. Ref my previous question regarding spotlamps. I forgot to mention I am in the UK. The configuration is legal here.

A: That is illegal and will not pass inspection. The lamps will have to come on with the low beams and go off with the high beams to be legal. But anyway, here is a great site that will give you step by step instructions: http://members.aol.com/agspeed/piaa.htm And don't forget the optional last step: Mount a hidden video camera on your grill so that you can catch the thief who is going to steal your newly installed fog lights.

Q: I have a 2002 2.0l d Hyundai Santa Fe, how do I remove a fuel injector to have it repaired.?
I have had a diagnostic run on it by Hyundai highlighting a problem with number 3 injector. On inspection the previous owner has had a go removing it causing me a lot of heart ache and cost. A: these injectors are electronic and not usually repairable last one i bought was £180 and a pig to fit if they seize in the engine good luck

Q: Hyundai Santa Fe drivers - Is the AWD necessary? What color did you get? Packages?
We are looking in to purchasing an '07 Santa Fe. Any advice? I am not sure whether to go with the AWD vs the FWD -- or with the premium package, or without? (The premium package has the sun-roof and heated seats, etc.) We are looking at the SE trim (middle range). We aren't sure what color either (only a limited number of options) Thank you!

A: ONE OF MY CUSTOMER PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AGAINST MY ADVISE BECAUSE THEY WANTED THE LONGER WARRANTY. 1. THE VEHICLE HAS MANY ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS FROM THE RADIO TO THE WINDOWS. 2. IT HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERSHIP 6 TIMES THIS YEAR ALONE. 3. 50% OF THE TIME THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT DUPICATE THE PROBLEM, "HEY JUST KEEP IT LONGER AND YOU WILL". 4. THEIR GAS MILEAGE WHEN DOWN EARLIER THIS YEAR AND THE DEALER PUT ON THEIR TICKET (NPF) NO PROBLEM FOUND. THIS IS JUST MY OPONION AND MANY WILL PEOPLE WILL DISAGREE BUT AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED, I JUST FLAT OUT DONT TRUST HYUNDIA VEHICLES. DONT GET UPSET, ONLY TRYING TO HELP. HAVE A GREAT DAY.

Q: My 2002 Hyundai Santa fe won't start after fueling. What's the problem?
Every time I fill up at the gas station, my car won't start unless I step on the accelerator while trying to start the car. What could be wrong with the car and would it still be covered under warranty?

A: I had the same problem back in 2003 with my 2002 Santa Fe. Just dugout the paperwork and the dealer replaced the Purge Control Valve part # 28910-22040 under warranty. If yours is used or out of warranty then you will have to pay the piper. Dealer wouldn't believe me twice until I left the car with tank almost empty for them to fill up. The mechanic went to the gas station and realized I wasn't blowing smoke up his nose.

A: If you are having problems starting, then you need to check: 1. Your battery; 2. Ignition coils; 3. Spark plugs and 4. Spark plug wires You may also want to check if you have gas in your tank or check to ensure that when you are trying to start the car, it is not in gear (the car will only start in neutral or park).

Q: Hyundai Santa Fe Power Steering Problem?
I have a 2002 2.7 Hyundai Sante Fe auto which has developed what seems like a power steering problem. I seeking help to try and diagnose the possible causes of this problem. The nosie - a whining sound - which emanates when I try and turn the steering wheel is more likley to happen after having been driving 10 minutes. The fluid level is fine. Therefore it could it could be the power steering pump or maybe a rack and pinion problem. Is there an "easy" way to diagnose this problem myself?

A: It is not the power steering rack, they will not make a whining sound, either hard to steer or leak but will not whine. A bad P/S pump could also make it hard to steer if it is going bad, you did not say if it is hard to steer or not when you have the condition. You will have to get it warm & get the whining condition & have someone move the wheel back & forth a trace down the noise to isolate the problem. I use a stethoscope made for auto engines that works great for this type of tracing noises. It is too expensive to just start Shot Gunning parts at it to see if that was it. Good Luck:-)

Q: what do you think of the 07 Hyundai santa fe,is it reliable?
ive been thinking of buying a sta fe cause its fuel efficient compared to honda pilot, but im clueless of its reliability, whereas the pilot being a honda is really reliable and honda has integrity but it consumes more gas, what should i go for? pls help me out

A: It comes with a 100,000 mile power train warranty and at least 5 years 60,000 miles on everything else, so even if it sucks, it won't cost you money. But it doesn't suck. My secretary has one, and I am very impressed with it. It has received some excellent reviews. It's a lot of car for the money. Sure, it's no Honda, but then the Honda will cost you more to buy. I doubt you will make back that extra in fuel savings. But on the flip side the Honda will depreciate more slowly, so it will be worth more when you sell it. If you check the last two links you will see that the 'true cost to own' is about the same for both vehicles. Within 1c per mile of each other. So at the end of the day I think both cars are great, it's probably down to personal preference.
