Q: How do I replace my 2002 Hyundai Sonata shift lever?
I have a 2002 Hyundai Sonata GLS 2.7L. I started to unscrew the shift knob, but it won't come off and now I can't tighten it. I just spins around freely now. Any suggestions on how to tighten it or take it off. Thank you in advance!
A: Check with the dealer (you may need a Vehicle Mechanic)
Q: How to mount the passenger side mirror in a 2004 Hyundai Sonata?
I have the whole replacement passenger side mirror for my 2004 Hyundai Sonata, but I don't know hot to mount it.My car still has the original p. side mirror mounting but the mirror is broken.HELP!!Serious answer!!
A: There is a small, triangle-shaped piece of plastic on the inside of the door, opposite where the mirror attaches. There may be a small tweeter speaker inside.
With the door open, gently pry that triangle off and loosen the 3 screws - these hold the mirror on.
Have someone hold the mirror or prop it up so it doesn't fall and bang against your door once it's loose.
There should be a wiring harness connector. To release, press the plastic tab on the connector - pull to separate the plugs and remove the mirror.
Installation is the reverse.
Q: where is the Crank shaft position sensor on a hyundai sonata?
My car won't start! I got a diag. computer and it told me that I had a bad Crank shaft position sensor, I have no idea where this is on my car and I would hate to start tearing into it blindly
it is a 2004 hyundai sonata 2.4 4,cycl.
Any help would be greatly appriciated
A: The sensor is going to be in the front of the engine near the harmonic dampener/ crank shaft pulley usually its mounted behind the pulley with one bolt you will see a harness going to it its usually pretty small.
Q: Who knows anything about the stereo in a '99 Hyundai Sonata?
I have a 99 Sonata and I'm just wondering if anyone knows if the stock stereo that year will play mp3 cds?
A: NO! I have a newer car than you and it won't... but why don't you try it and find out, then you'll know for sure.
Q: Trouble with a 96 Hyundai Sonata starting after it warms up?
I have a Sonata that will start easy when the motor is cold and run for as long as I don't shut it off. When I shut it off it will not even try to start until the motor has cooled all the way back down. Like a couple of hours or over night. When I try to restart it the lights come on in the dash, but the starter doesn't even try to turn the motor over. If anyone has any ideas about what my problem might be please let me know!
Thanks!
A: Sounds like you need a starter, sometimes they suffer from heat soak and will not start while hot. Hence why it will run all day but won't start after you kill it.
Q: My 89 Hyundai sonata wont kick over, any ideas what could be wrong?
One day my sonata just wouldnt start for some reason.
I've had a new coil and distributor put in but there is still no power going from the distributor.
It has power when I try and start the car but it wont kick over.
A: 89 Hyundai is the main problem all alone , Check Starter use screwdriver and do it from undeneath car, if no power check coil again you mighta got screwwed check with volt/ohm meter see if getting fire....my real advise get a different car
Q: What other year engines will work in a 95 Hyundai Sonata w/ a 2.0 DOHC motor with manual transmission?
I have a 95 Hyundai Sonata with a blown engine. I know that the 95-98 Sonatas are pretty much the same except I was told that only a 95 engine will work. Something about the engine being redesigned in 96. The engine is a 2.0 DOHC with manual transmission(if that matters)
A: I THINK ANY 2.0 MOTOR WILL WORK EXCEPT YOU MAY HAVE TO MOVE THE MOTOR MOUNTS . THAT'S NO BIG DEAL AND ITS CHEAPER THAN HAVE THE MOTOR REBUILT. (JUNK YARD HYUNDAI $175. - $500.00 FOR ONE
Q: What is the best oil to use in a hyundai sonata?
I have over 90,000 miles on it and I just bought it.
A: you can either stick to what the manufacturer recommends or you can try one of the high mileage formulas. It should be able to protect a little more for your wearing out motor
Q: How many miles per gallon does an Automatic Hyundai Sonata get?
Just looking through the paper and wondered....
Any real owners out there?
The reviews online are all over the place
(let me know which year you have - that'll help)
thanks all
A: fyi...i had a rental that was a 2007 with v6 auto and i had it for three weeks....my best estimate was 22 in the city
(houston) not sure about highway.
It was very peppy as well , i drove it pretty agressively and it still got pretty good mileage. the handling was excellent as well.
Q: How do I set the clock on a 1999 hyundai sonata?
I have trouble in setting up the clock, tried all 3 buttons that said H, M, and R but no luck. Been looking around for the owner's manual online but so far can't find it. Could anyone help me please?
Thank you.
A: The owner's manual states exactly what you've already tried by just pushing the buttons. Nothing fancy.
h - hour
m - minute
r - reset
Try holding the 'R' button down for a few seconds. If nothing happens, chances are something is wrong with the internal circuit board - not making the proper connection. New clock from Hyundai $83.12

Q: I have a 1995 Hyundai Sonata and only 3 cylinders work. How long will it last before it dies?
I've got new spark plugs and new wires. I've had a compression test and the 4th cylinder has zero psi but others are fine. Idle is rough but when I drive it's fine. I just need to know how long it'll run as I plan only to keep it for another 9 months (if not less).
A: Probably less than that.
Q: Why does my Hyundai Sonata keep blowing the dash lights and right tail light fuse?
My AC does not work and i am thinking that it might be related to that but i am not sure. I hae recently added a PA system however it seems to working fine and that fuse is not blowing at all. When i replace the fuse it works for a short time before blowing once more! Please Help
A: It sounds like a short in the system. You have to go a dealer or a mechanic who does auto electrical work.
The best trolls can come up with is "Hyundai's suck"? If you don't know the answer to a question do us all a favor and don't say anything because it makes you look like an idiot. Especially Heisenberg. The first question he answers about cars and all he can come up with is an old recall. The car didn't "burst into flames" by itself. Hyundai fixed a valve used to prevent fuel leakage as a precaution measure if it ROLLED OVER.
So freaking immature. I should answer Honda questions with "Honda's suck look here's a recall about how wheels can come off! http://www.consumeraffairs.com/recalls04/2007/honda_civic2.html
Toyota's are crap your steering wheel can come off!http://www.consumeraffairs.com/recalls04/2006/toyota_worldwide.html
I can do this all day but I rather help people rather hurt them.
Q: Where can the codes be checked on a 1999 Hyundai Sonata V6?
I recently purchased the car and it runs great, but I don't where to find the point plug in the hand held to check codes. There is no manual and nobody seems to have a Chilton or other book on the car. Can you help me out with this?
A: It is a small (usually white) plug almost directly beneath the steering wheel, under the dash.
You can absolutely buy shop manuals from Hyundai. They are written for technicians who already know the basics though so they're very precise and technical. Not as easy to read as the Chilton or Haynes and not as cheap either.
There are 2 volumes of the shop manual and 1 volume of electrical troubleshooting manual.
Volume 1 - $75.00
Volume 2 - $54.00
Electrical - $35.00
Q: How Do I change the factory fitted stero in my 2000, manual transmission Hyundai Sonata?
I am having big troubles trying to change the stero, anyone knopw this particular car and how to do it.
Cheers
A: pop down to your nearest motorist discount shop, they will usually have the right pins to remove your stereo, probably only cost you a fiver or so
Q: Repair costs for replacing airbags in a 1998 Hyundai Sonata?
Just curious - the car was in a minor crash - little damage to the front, but the airbags deployed. Yes it is old but it is good for what I need it for. The car is in perfect working order otherwise. Approx. how much will it cost to have the airbags replaced?
A: It pretty much all depends on where you take it and how much they charge by the hour me personally I have ony done to and it was a lot less than 1800 dollars for both of the if I recall not including the airbag itself it was about 550 dollars
