Q: Is jeep a trade mark for a car manufacturer, or do other car manufacturers also produce jeep cars?
I thought jeep is a trade mark for only cars with jeep on it.

A: Jeep is a brand name, the same as Mercury, Opel, Audi, etc. Jeep-brand vehicles are manufactured by, and the name is owned by, Chrysler LLC.

Q: Are 2007 jeep grand cherokees reliable cars?
I love jeeps and i am planning to get one. Is the 2007 grand cherokee a reliable car or am i making a mistake buying that car now that gas prices have gone high as hell.

A: Yes they are reliable. With gas prices this high you might want to make sure you can afford the gas though. Seems like a lot of people buy something and 1-2 years later complain they cant afford the gas.

Q: What other cars keyless remote will work with a Jeep Grand Cherokee?
If I replace my keyless remote what other cars have remotes that can be programmed to my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee? im only talking about a remote, not the whole system.

A: any key-less remote can be used. It's just a little box wired into the power locks. It acts just like pushing the button inside. Assuming all cars power locks work on the same voltage, all remote operated lock systems are compatible with any car having power door locks. Know you just gotta fit it into the space provided, but thats up to you.

Q: are jeep wranglers practical for first cars?
i am absolutely in love with jeep wranglers but i've seen many for sale recently and i don't know if thats a good thing or a bad thing? my parents keep saying they're not safe because they roll easily, but are they good vehicles? just wondering. i probably won't be getting a car for another year anyway, but i just love them!

A: Jeep Wranglers are great vehicles. That was my first car a few months ago, and now I am trading it in for another Wrangler. (a newer one thats in better condition. nothing wrong w/ my 1st one). Any SUV can roll over if you drive crazy, but if you drive normally and legally, you'll be fine. They are great in the winter, (4x4), amazing in the summer with the top down and the doors off. People might be selling them because they don't get the best gas mileage, but I don't look at that. I have a job, so my $ goes towards my Wrangler. And not all of it either. Like the previous guy said, get the 4.0L 6 cylinder, the 4 cylinder is way too weak. As for auto vs man transmission, thats up to you. I got an auto because I live in the city and don't want to mess around shifting gears. Whichever you get, you won't regret it and you'll have a blast owning one. Don't forget to wave to fellow Wrangler owners!

Q: What is the average diameter of tailpipes on cars, namely Mercedes and Jeep?
to the third answerer: i'm doing a science project, probably something that is way above your intellectual level.

A: most lie 2 and 1/2 or 2 1/4 but easy to measure it across ones hole or end of it

Q: are american cars like jeep, gm, chevy, chrysler cheaper because they are made locally or inferior to imports?
i already own an old buick bought second hand before. now, i am thinking of buying a new one. i really have no preference to cars as i just would want something to get me from point A to point B. found out that american car prices are dropping and if there is a reason to believe they are inferior than honda, toyota and the alike, then i would think twice. i also hear about depreciation and resale value. is this really a factor?

A: avoid Jeep & Chrysler

Q: Why are SEAT and the new JEEP cars so ugly?

A: I have no idea what a SEAT looks like since they don't sell them here, but the Jeeps are nice, especially covered in mud. Now what's really ugly is the Subaru Tribeca, Honda CRV, or any new Cadilac.

Q: Jeep Cars???are they gud enough?
am trying to buy a car and I so want a Jeep but i`ve noticed that all of their cars are sports utility....so i was wondering if they are desined for specific reasons or if anyone can drive them...anytime and anywhere...or are they made for sport related things??are they stick shifts????automatic or wat??? I just wanted to find out before i go to a dealer.

A: The wrangler is still the top of the jeep tree. Don't expect good gas mileage out of them and the thing is in no means a sports car. But off road you will get instant respect over(those other guys). Despite what most people say the Wrangler is the only real off road performer out of the box. I'm not saying the others can not be upgraded just that if you take one off road in real off road conditions you may loose or break something. Q: what's up with american cars? the dodge caliber and jeep compass are cheaper. is this a good practical deal?
i've been shopping for a new car for the past 2 months and hoping to buy before autumn. i have really no preference, just fairly priced and practical car. if theses american cars are cheaper, are they really priced fair or just inferior? i have no case against resale and depreciation values cause i would love my car up to the last mile it runs.

A: i have a 99 wrangler that i drove the spit out of!! it has 472,000 miles on it. i bought it with 163,000 back in 2006. i have replaced the radiator, tstat, and oil pan gasket. when i cross 500k, i will take a picture and post it here and on my myspace, so that one and all can marvel at AMERICAN car quality.

Q: Has anyone noticed that the Jeep Wrangler resembles those antique cars from the 1930s?
I once mistook an antique car for a Jeep Wrangler unlimited as it passed swiftly down the street.

A: They found a design that worked and stuck with it. It's the simplicity and utility of that vehicle that has been it's major attraction ever since its inception. It's not broke, so why fix it. Does look kind of funny though.

Q: Are Jeeps good cars [jeep owners input appreciated]?
i'm thinking about buying a 2007 or 2008 jeep wrangler for my next car. how is the mileage? are they good cars in general? or... what is a better car to at least look at? thanks in advance!

A: first in responce to ali-c. jeep is owned by chrysler. not gm. and land rovers are terible unless you enjoy chacing down electrical prublems intil the day you die....jeeps are great vehicles i curently own 3 and have owned 7 over the course of my life i have personally seen 4.0 jeeps with 2 and 300 thousand miles on them with nothing but regular maintanace. not to mention chrysler has lifetime powertrain warantee which is basicly a gurantee that ittl run forever or they will fix it for free. how can you go wrong?

Q: What are some other jeep wrangler type off roading cars?
Off roading cars that can have the top taken off. with roll bars

A: 66'-77' Bronco, TJ, YJ, CJ, MB, Sidekick, Tracker, Samurai, Defender 90, 70's Blazer. 80's Blazer. If you want new, not many vehicles that fall into that body style. Buy old, build it hardcore and right. And drive in on road and off for the next ten plus years.

Q: R 1988-1991 Jeep wagoneer good cars R do they break down alot?

A: I have an '87 Comanche (pickup version of the Cherokee/Wagoneer) and it is a beast. It has 154,000 miles, has had the crap beaten out of it its whole life, and starts every time. The most major component to ever go bad was the clutch- big deal. You just can't kill those AMC engines. I'd buy another one in a second. Hope this helps.

Q: Do Jeep Wrangler series SUVs have a higher chance of rolling over then average cars?
I am interested in getting one as a first car, but my father says that they are unsafe to drive. Are they more likely then other vehicles to roll over, and are there any safety issues? I would be purchasing a mid 90's model, most likely a YJ or TJ. *EDIT* And if they do, is it a good enough reason to avoid purchasing one?

A: yes if u drive them hard through turns because they have a higher center of gravity so they have a higher chance of rolling over

Q: How do refurbish plastic on cars that has faded? The fender trim on my jeep has become faded light gray.Ideas?
Jeep wrangler plastic fender flares have become faded from the sun. Any way to refinish them besides the armorall which looks good for a day.

A: Try a low grit buffing compound and take a buffer to it. After you are done with that wax it. If there are swirl marks still on there repeat as necessary. It's alot cheaper to do that than to have it repainted or buying a new one that will match it from the salvage yard.
