Q: How do I fix a jeep wrangler 2000 radiator, leaking at the petcock?
I have a jeep wrangler 2000. The radiator is leaking at the petcock. Is it possible to just fix/replace the petcock, or do i need to replace the entire radiator? If so, can you recommend where I can get an inexpensive radiator?

A: Just replace the petcock, your radiator it's going to be just fine. Good day.

Q: What is the largest size tire you can put on a jeep wrangler tj without a lift?
What is the largest size tire you can put on a jeep wrangler tj without a lift? I have 30x9.5 tires on my jeep wrangler right now and they are almost brand new. Is there a place I can trade my tires for bigger ones?

A: You can listen to these "experts" on this site or you can read the tire fit info info I provided for you down below. If you over-stuff your wheel wells you WILL rub while 4 wheeling. The idea is to not rub while wheel'n. You can also rub simply by turning while driving. Check out the other links too. There is a lot cool stuff for Jeeps. Take your time, save some dough and do it right. Also.....do your research. I find a lot of stuff and info online.

Q: How many miles can a jeep wrangler go before it needs a new engine?
I am wanting to buy this jeep wrangler, and it has a new paint job and new tires and it's $8000, but it has 98,000 miles on it. The only other jeep in town that I am interested in is $18,000 miles on it and it has 30,000 miles on it. But it is really worth the extra $10,000? any by the way, it's a 1997 jeep wrangler

A: If it has a 4.0 engine in it, expect it to run into the 300,000 mile mark. Wranglers last forever *if* you take good care of them. Whether it hits that kind of mileage is entirely your call. I would go for the older one honestly, saves you some money. I would also carfax the VIN and bluebook the value. You never know where this thing has been. Try to bargain a little as well. Good luck and congrats on your new Jeep! Donny, Jeeps are the cheapest vehicles to maintain I've ever had. I also do my own maintenance, which is EASY.

Q: How difficult is it to remove the rear seat on a Jeep Wrangler?
I am getting a 2006 Jeep Wrangler Sport and just wondering if it will be easy to take the back seat in and out. Also if you have one is there anything I should know?

A: Piece of cake. The rear seat mount changed in 2003. The seat tips forward and the spring loaded mounts detach, then you simply lift the seat out. Its actually harder to put the seat back in - the trick is push the seat forward after you've lined up the mounts and brought the seat back to the upright position.

Q: How Much does a factory hardtop for a Jeep Wrangler weigh and?
I have a 2006 Jeep Wrangler X. I want to take the top off and put the summer top back on, and my garage will not allow the pulleys. I am curious if I can disconnect the bolts and lift the top off from the middle, or is this for sure a two man job?

A: I wouldn't try it without a buddy. Its more an issue of size than weight, and its not symmetrical, so the weight distribution would make it really awkward to try to move by yourself. Almost forgot, weighs in at about 140 lbs. or so.

Q: How much would getting a jeep wrangler murdered out cost?
I plan on getting an '86 to '89 jeep wrangler for my first car and I would like to get it murdered (all black, tinted, and wheels black). I like the powder coat color like Rob's car on Rob and Big. Does anyone know how much this would cost. I'm hoping the paint job will not cost what the car did itself.

A: About tree fiddy.

Q: Where does the black soot around my tailpipe on my 2006 Jeep Wrangler come from? How do i fix the problem?
Ever since I bought my 2006 Jeep Wrangler last year, I have noticed black soot around the end of my tailpipe. Does this have to do with the spark plugs? Would this be covered under the warranty?

A: could be plugs or a number of other things and plugs are usually not a warrenty item. If it is still under warrenty i would take it back to the dealer they can do the diagnostics and find the problem. Could be emissions problems. Good luck

Q: What will the type of tires do to my gas milage on my jeep wrangler?
I have 235-75-15 tires now on my jeep with factory rims, If I put aftermarket rims 15 x 8 on my jeep what would my gas milage do if I went up to a 30 x 9.5 x 15 tire size. If anyone has these tire sizes with aggressive tread and all terrain tread and has them on a jeep wrangler and could let me know what the gas milage is I would appreciate it alot.

A: You shouldn't have a big problem with a change of gas mileage, considering that 30x9.5s are not much bigger than the 235x75s. I have 32s on my Jeep and as soon as I had them put on, I noticed a big change in gas mileage (city). But on the highway, its fairly about the same. The bigger you go, the heavier the tire and then the more stress your vehicle will have, which leads to poor gas mileage.

Q: What is better for off roading a Jeep Wrangler an automatic or stick shift?
I am looking to buy a 2007 Jeep Wrangler and not sure if the manual trans or automatic is better when off roading. Is the Rubicon worth the price or the same as the X?

A: Most people I know prefer the auto the manual, it allows you to use the brake and throttle at the same time (a situation you'll find yourself in often if you rock crawl or do other more technical off road driving) without having to add a hand throttle. The guys I know that have run or are running a manual have either replaced them with an auto when the manual fails or are planning to do so when their stick shift tranny finally gives up. The extras that come on the Rubicon (4:1 transfer case, locking diffs, 4:10 gears, Dana 44 axles, auto disconnect sway bar and fixed yoke transercase output shaft) generally justify the price from the factory; ie it will be more expensive for you to add all that stuff later, particularly if you're paying somebody for the labor. It will really depend on the type of off road driving you plan on doing. If you're just going to be cruising down the forest service trails or doing other non-aggressive or technical type wheeling that it probably won't be worth the price.

Q: What are the dimensions for the 04 Jeep Wrangler OEM catback exhaust system?
I'm looking at buying either a performance cat-back exhaust or muffler for my 04 Jeep Wrangler X. Depending on how much of a difference in pipe size, I may just go with a cheaper performance muffler.

A: Leave it at the stock dia (2.5"). Any bigger and you will loose valuable low end torque. As far as a cheap performance muffler go with a Summit racing Muffler. You didn't say what size engine you have.

Q: What size bolt pattern for a 2004 Jeep Wrangler X model?
I am getting some new tires and rims for 2004 Jeep Wrangler X model and I don't know the bolt pattern. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

A: 5 on 4.5

Q: What kind of experiences have you had with the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited?
I am considering buy a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. I have a job that frequently takes me to muddy construction sites, dirt roads, and live in upstate NY so deal with sometimes interesting winters. I also want a convertible. Maybe a Jeep is the best of both worlds. I have generally stayed away from American car makers becuase of their less then steller build quailty. But after 5 years with a VW Jetta that has spent a lot of time at the shop, I don't want to deal with something that is going to be consistantly having stupid annoying things go wrong with it. Something else that is appealing to me about the Wranglers is the fact that their resale value seems to stay pretty good compared to other cars of the same vintage. So, after all of that, the simple question remains, what have been your experiences with the Wrangler Unlimited: what has gone wrong, what has gone right, recalls, dealer experience, etc. Thanks!

A: Great vehicles. They are not the fastest vehicles, nor the most fuel efficient. But man, they are fun to drive. They love sand and snow. There are tons of aftermarket companies that sell accessories to make it more specific to your needs. The Unlimited is nice for the fact that you can hold more cargo and tow more than the shorter wheelbase. Now, in a few more months, Jeep will introduce the redesigned Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited. There will even be a four door Wrangler. You may want to wait to either buy the 2007 model or get a great deal on the 2006. Good luck. Here is the information on the four door model.: http://www.jeep.com/en/07wranglerunlimited/

Q: What size tires for a 1997 jeep wrangler tj?
I have a 1997 Jeep Wrangler TJ and it is a 2.5liter, 4 cylinder and my father and i are debating on whether we should get a 4in. or 2.5in. We are also debating on whether we should do 31, 32, or 33 inch tires. We have heard that 33 inch tires on a 4 cylinder will decrease the power in the jeep and it is not a good idea. What is your suggestion? by the way what is your opinion about body lifts?

A: 4 inch lift one inch coil spacers 35 inch swampers four cylinger 5 speed 4.88 gears locked in the front welded in the rear = absolutly no power

Q: How do I relocate my jeep wrangler mirrors? What mirrors am I supposed to get?
I want to take my doors off of my 06 Jeep wrangler, so I bought brackets but what mirrors do I purchase or am I to use the existing mirrors. Im under the understanding that you take the existing mirrors and and put them in the brackets but this isnt working. What do I do?

A: A lot of guys use Harley mirrors http://www.suburbanharley.com/catalog/productdetails.cfm?ProductID=1500 combined with the longer arms http://www.suburbanharley.com/catalog/productdetails.cfm?ProductID=1515 I used these http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Product/tf-Browse/s-10101/Pr-p_Product.CATENTRY_ID:2008316/p-2008316/N-111+10101+121474063+4294965462/c-10101 with a 3/8 inch diameter bolt and a nut. Used the bolt to hold the mirror on using the door hinge that you will free up when you remove the door. Entire setup cost less than $15. Don't forget to pull the #4 fuse so your interior lights will stay off! Open the glove box, remove that little strap that holds it in place and use a fuse puller or some needle nose pliers remove it.

Q: How do I restore my Jeep Wrangler fender flares to their original black finish?
It is a 2002 Jeep Wrangler X and they have faded to a gray color.

A: You might have wax build up from car washes or from waxing them. Mothers makes a product called Back To Black and Duragloss makes a product called Wax Eraser. Try them .
