Q: Does anyone have any bad things to say about kia cars?
I have a brand new 07' kia rio5 it was within my bugdet and love the gas mileage, but uncertain how reliable it will be in the future even if i take good care of it. Does anyone own one that's a few years old? What was your experience like with the dealership?

A: Kias are budget cars, and you get what you pay for. Budget cars are not built to be the best. They are made by Hyundai, and Kias are to Hyundais what Saturns are to GMCs. That doesn't mean you'll have tons of problems with the car, but I wouldn't personally buy one.

Q: What does anyone here think of KIA cars?
I like my car and believe that I should maintain what I have, but I want and need a back up vehicle because here public transportation won't help. I'm considering one of these, particularly a Sportage or an Optima. I just want you guys personal (owners) opinion on them. I'm more concerned with a car getting me from point A to B not the trade in value. to John Paul, i don't want a Sport Ute, and i really don't consider the Sportage one since it's so small. It's probably built based on cars and not a truck (sorry i can't word that right, but i think someone knows what I mean) oh yeah, i did own a Corolla, since it was my first car in '98 (i had a '96) but they seem so small now. I'm afraid to say my dodge Stratus held up better than the Corolla. The starter was the first to go, my Stratus held up for a goof 6 years with no defects. excuse the typo. "goof" was supposed to be "good". Master tech Auto, you may have given me the right answer. I just may have to go with the Toyota, but I need a good, affordable vehicle (and I do miss my '96 Corolla)

A: I advise against KIA. You get what you pay for, they are cheap, they fall all to pieces, they rattle, they ware out QUICK. Then the warranty doesn't cover ALOT of things you may think it does. If you buy one, please read the warranty papers carefully. I don't think you will be happy with it in the long run, but hey, I make money off of them. ALOT of money.

Q: How good are kia cars, in comparisson to other popular brands , such as chevrolet, toyota, ford, nissan.?
Im mainly talking about quality and price.

A: Kia is owned by Hyundai. the Kia Optima & Rondo are very good vehicles. the Kia Rio & Spectra are not good. they are getting better but still have some work to do. Chevrolet has been making cars that are designed to fall apart after 5 or 6 years so they aren't known to the have the best reliability. But the Silverado is the best truck on the road. So it's not that they are not capable of building good cars they just have been looking at profits ahead of quality. Ford has a few good cars and trucks but like Chevy has not always put quality ahead of profits. Nissan is not as respected as Toyota but has been making good cars and trucks for years. Toyota & Honda are still the most reliable used cars on the road and have the highest % of return customers. the Toyota Corolla is the best selling car in the world but the latest models are starting to need improvement as everyone else is getting better but they are putting out the same product. if you want at a Kia get an Rondo or an Optima, the Sportage is good also. Avoid the Rio, Spectra, Sedonia, and the Sorrento. Hyundai's Santa Fe, Elantra, Azera, Sonata and Tucson are the best. Avoid the Tiburon, Veracruz, Accent, Entourage, and the Genisis. the Kia Rondo is best thing on wheels for a low price. it's been sold for years in Europe under the name Carens. http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/default.aspx?make=Kia&model=Rondo&state=new

Q: KIA cars: pre lease/pre owned/ option to buy?
I am doing this for research for school, I need to find the Kia cars being pre lease, pre owned or have a consumers option to buy. But I also need to know the original cost , the sticker price and the amount of money that people need to pay. Thank you!

A: The best place you could start is Edmunds.com for actual prices paid amounts along with MSRP...then look at sites like Autotrader for New / Used selling prices and KBB for Used car values. C.Bond

Q: KIA CARS SUCK> AND THEY DO NOT stand behind THE WARRANTY?
I have a 05 kia spectra 5 it has been one thing after a other I would have to say DO NOT GET ONE EVER no matter how hard they try to talk you into one,,They don't do as they say at all on the warranty my car is a lemmon with less than 20th miles on it.. sorry to the one that said this is not a ? how is this DID you know kia sucks or who has a KIA and it sucks also.. know anyone tha hate there kia.

A: Thanks for the info! I wasn't ever planning on purchasing a Kia, but maybe some other people were. And you are not the first person I have heard complain about theirs.

Q: are honda civics good cars? what about kia cars?
cause im thinking about buying a honda civic. or a kia spectra. has anyone heard good/bad things about these cars? or do u know from owing them how they are? Help please!

A: Honda Civic is the one for You. While Kia on the other hand is "the poorman's" show-off car. What do you like? I'd definitely go for the civic, after all it's a Honda. And the engine is the most reliable motor on the roads offering you peace of mind on freeways. Kia requires lot of maintainance, that compensates for it's price!

Q: did you have bad experience with korean kia cars like i did?
kia sportage with check engine malfunction that was never fixed by kia service center. now i avoid them like the plague

A: I own a shop, and didn't have a bad experience, but I do see what comes into our shops to be worked on, and Kia is right there at the top of the list. Many times these vehicles will cost more to repair than they are valued at. If there ever was a throw a-way car, then this is surely it. It's the ones we don't work on, that I could say is a good car. If you will check out this site: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov and type Kia in the search, you will see what I'm talking about. They are terrible cars, and have had so many complaints lodged against them, that I don't see why they haven't been taken off the market. If a toy had that many complaints, it would have been off the market already. Its hard to believe anyone could sell something that is this bad of a product, and get away with it. Then again; they are cheap vehicles to buy in the first place. I know some people swear they are the finest thing since sliced bread, but I can't see it. Glad to add my 2 cents worth!!!

Q: Why are Kia cars so cheap?
Why are kia cars so cheap?

A: They are cheap because they are built to last 5-7 years. If you wanted to get a car that will last you for a longer time with better engine, transmission, etc. Yet at a low price, then you should get a Honda, Toyota or Nissan. =]

Q: what is the best affordable compact or midsize car? Are Kia's (88$/mo) good cars?
I drive an escort now, and I love it but it's 10 yrs old & has a lot of miles. My income is pretty low. Less than 25K/ yr. And I have a house pymt! What about a saturn or toyota?

A: if you buy a "new" Kia Optima or Rio you'll be fine, avoid the older used ones your best bet would be a used car with less miles and years on it than the one you have. for $4,000 look for 98 Acura CL, 98 Ford Mustang V6, 98 Honda Accord or Civic, 98 Nissan Frontier or Pathfinder, 98 Subaru Impreza or Legacy, 98 -00 Toyota Corolla or Echo 00

Q: Is it true that the KIA brand of cars is controlled by the russian mafia?
That's what I heard from a business man in a very convincing way.

A: no, they are not. it would be weird if it was LOL. Kia is pretty much owned by Hyundai.

Q: why is Kia used cars so cheap?
Do you know how cheap Kia used cars are? why are they that cheap. are they really that bad? if so, what is so bad about them"? SO there NOTHING good about Kia? except it is cheap? (maybe good gas mileage?)

A: Kia vehicle, when they first hit the United states, had a lot of mechanical issues. They are an inexpensive vehicle that gets good gas mileage, and if you get one that is newer than a 2002, they run well, too.

Q: Are Kia cars such as the spectra good cars?
i just bought a Kia spectra 2003 and i found it to be a good car after my examinations, but i would like the peoples opinion, maybe somebody with experience with a kia before.

A: cheap sometimes is expensive... when hyundai came out with the exel peoplesaid that it was a piece of crap automovile... I had one, never gave me a problem. if you take care of it everything will be fine.

Q: Are kia spectra and kia rio good cars to buy?
I'm looking for a used car to buy...and I ran across a kia spectra and kia ria both under $10,000(and they're both 03,05)

A: i think for the money they are good cars but a lot of them seem to be giving a lot of problems right now,so a lot of people have stopped buying them,i have drove a lot of them, and they drive really good, but with the problems they been giving you might want to look at something else, there's lots of good cars on the market like the Nissan sentra, their really good cars, for now though i would pass on either of the KIA,s,good luck with it.

Q: Why KIA cars cannot be tuned by local mechanics?
I'm having a KIA Spectra 2004 model which consumes fuel like anything. Full Tank RM 70.00 could only cover 250 - 300 km only and its heavy with a/con on.

A: KIA is made in Korea. The manufacturer specifically designs the cars with "special" areas, that prevent the backyard mechanic from fixing anything. This guarantees that the company, through it's dealerships will have continued business, after the initial sale.

Q: Why is there always a Kia car found dead on the side of the road?
Every now and then, I see a car parked on the side of the highway, either in the city or on the interstate. It is always a Kia. There have been a few Fords, but not as much as there have been Kias. Is there a problem with those cars or is it JUST THAT KIA SUCKS?

A: Yes there is a reason for that. There is a reason for the insanely low prices on any KIA. It is the fact they are made cheaply and poorly. Generally you think foreign car good car right? But in this case the car is not coming from japan it is coming form Korea which Korea's standards are very very low when it comes to car manufacturing. They are slapped together with not the best materials and sold at a cheap price so they appeal to people that cant blow a lot of money for a car. I have heard that a KIA will drive good for the first six years then major parts and repairs will be needed after that.
