Q: Changing a Timing Belt on a 2003 Kia Rio?
I just got a new car a 2003 Kia Rio, it has 89k miles on it and of course the belt needs a change. I was wondering, if anyone here is a mechanic or knows stuff about cars, how much would it run me to change the belt? Is it possible to keep it under $300?? All help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
A: Are you sure you know what you are doing, changing a timing belt is no easy little task that anyone can do, Do you have the proper tools.
Q: How much work can be done on a Kia Rio?
Hey
just wondering how much work can be done on a Kia Rio 2003 model in terms of performance and style
please be descriptive on what kind of modifications can be done
cheers
A: With regards to performance, nothing much since that car is not popular at all in the tuning scene. At the most you could change are the air intake, exhaust kit and other minor stuff (which will only improve its performance a little bit). Even if you would want to fix any forced induction kits, probably there would be none made specially for the Rio. And just fixing any type of forced induction kit might be detrimental to your engine.
As for styling, you could just go to any auto styling workshop and get a custom made bodykit and spoilers. Reduce the height of your car with an aftermarket suspension kit, get low profile tyres and some nice rims.
But if I were you, I wouldn't be wasting money to improve a Kia Rio. Save it for your next car and get a better one if you are concerned about performance and styling.
Q: What do you think of the Kia Rio?
I'm looking for a car that's under $10,000, gets relatively good gas milage, and is easy to operate. It's for a first time driver. Suggestions and opinions of the Kia Rio are appreciated!
A: The nice thing about this car it has 5 year warranty on the car.
I own two Kia Rio's. Have a 2002 and 2006, both 4 door hatchbacks (station wagon style). I find that they are a good car. You have your own preference and I suggest you test drive with a friend to get a bette view of what the Kia Rio is. It is good on mileage and it comes in a 4 door hatchback (like a small wagon) or regular style 4 door car. It is similar to a Toyota Echo, but I found that the Kio Rio had more head room in the back seats. I am tall and dound that I had headroom in the backseat. The Rio gets good mileage and they have get up and go. The service people are good if you have any problems with it. Check the below websites for either USA or Canada or the Korean website where they are made from. If you want me to email you later about the Rio driving I would be happy to tell you about it.

Q: Hi, I am looking to find a car to commute to college with under $5000, 60 miles a day. I have found a kia rio?
Any comments on Kia rio's? or any suggestions on a good commuter cars for under 5k.
A: subaru very strong reliable car
Q: Is the Kia Rio a good family car?
I have a family of 5 and would like to know if the Kia Rio is a good family car. It says it fits up to 5 people but it looks very small and I was wanting opinions from people who actually own one and have experience with it. My youngest daughter is 20 months old and in a carseat which usually takes up more room in the backseat than a human does. My other kids are 8 and 7.
A: Kias are not really that good. Almost bottom of the low end of there class. Its your family don't go cheep. Volvo is a great choice.
Q: How many miles to the gallon does your Kia Rio get?
I know that the manufacturer says that the automatic gets 32-35 for city/highway and the manual gets 28-39 or something like that, but I was just wondering if anyone who actually owns one has calculated their mileage.
If you can help me, I would appreciate it.
Thanks!
A: I have a kia spectra which gets approx 34 mpg, manual, and my friend has a rio which gets approx 35-6 mpg, also manual

can someone tell me how to take out Cd, Mp3, radio all one unit from kia Rio h/back Jb, lX My07 it stopped operating light is on Cd is on but doesn`t play, I can`t see any screws or bolts to take out and check ?
A: Most stereo decks require two "keys" that slide into each side of the deck (its supposed to help stop stereo theft). The "keys" push on the clips that hold your stereo in place.
You can use two butter knives if you dont care about bending the sides of your deck, but your best bet is to go to a stereo installation place (Best Buy, Circuit City...) and ask to borrow their keys to remove your stereo.
*this is what they keys look like....

Q: what controls the courtesy light in the kia rio kn?
I am trying to install a security alarm in a Kia Rio 2002 with VIN KNADC. I need aan Electrical Wiring Schematic for the Asian Model.
A: Hazard a guess at the door switches.
Q: Do you know why my 2001 Kia Rio won't start in the rain?
I got it a little over a year ago, it is used. It drove just fine at first, but now the Over Drive is always on and it refuses to start in rain, mist, or cold weather.
A: I had a Honda with the no start problem on rainy days. It was getting moisture inside the distributor. The fix was to replace the gasket on the distributor cap. Usually there is a button to depress to turn the overdrive on and off. I'm not familiar with the Kia, but it could be located on the shift lever or possibly the steering wheel.
Q: Where can I find the stock stereo wiring harness for a 2001 Kia rio?
All I have found is the adapter harness for an after market stereo. All I need is the stock stereo wiring Harness. Please help.
A: If there had been some type of 'chop job' performed to the original wiring for the kia previously, then you might want to look for the wiring harness that came new with the vehicle. The dealership would most likely carry that item. Replacement would almost certainly entail taking your dashboard almost completely apart. I have installed plenty of stereos over the years and find that VERY convenient to work with the original 'factory' wiring. Hope this helps.
Q: Does anyone drive a Kia Rio or Spectra?
Do you like it and do you think your Kia will last more than the 2 year lifetime that I've heard? Also, are they expensive to repair/maintain since they are a "foreign" car?
A: All cars made after 2002 are made to lat 10 years or 200,000 miles.
All cars today can now can easily make it to 200,000 miles.
Kia's were bad in the 90's. That gave them a bad reputation.
They started getting better 2000-2002.
From 2003 and on, they were great, reliable car with very long warranties and they started to become more popular.
Their reliability is average. Not better than Japanese, but better than some Britich cars, American cars, and some German cars.
They are cheap to maintain. Asian cars like Korean or Japanese cars are not expensive to maintain.
But other Foreign cars like German cars and Britich cars are very expensive to maintain.
They will definitely last more than 2 years with no problems.
I would get the Kia Spectra. It is a better value than the Kia Rio. It has more power, similar gas mileage, and comes with more standard features.
Kia has a 10 year warranty. Manufacturers would not make a warranty that long unless they are sure that their cars can last 10 years.
